The Challenge
Many rural communities across Ebonyi State face severe water scarcity, especially during the dry season (typically November–April). Residents often depend on distant, contaminated sources like ponds, streams, rivers (e.g., Ebenyi River), or rainwater, sometimes walking 1–3 hours to fetch water. Women and children bear most of the burden of fetching water, affecting hygiene, education, and daily life. Common problems include water drying up seasonally, contamination from sewage, animal waste, refuse, and potential chemical pollutants (e.g., from mining activities in some areas like lead/zinc in parts of Ebonyi, leading to high heavy metal risks and poor water quality indices). Health impacts include water-borne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery, plus risks like snake bites or attacks while fetching water.
Our Efforts
Through the generous support of our benefactors, we have been able in fund our first Safe Drinking Water Project by supporting and overseeing the installation of a fully functional solar powered well in the village of Anyanchi Oshiegbe in the Ebonyi State. The water started flowing on December 20, 2025. Our Safe Drinking Water Project Initiative will continue to identify and prioritize the most underserved villages in the region, working to expand access to safe, reliable water for families in need.
The Challenge
Safe shelter restores dignity and stability. PIN assists vulnerable families with home repairs, safe housing construction, and community development projects that provide long-term security.
Our Efforts
The Challenge
Good health enables strong communities. We support medical outreach programs, preventive health education, maternal and child health initiatives, and partnerships with local clinics to increase access to affordable care.
Our Efforts
The Challenge
Many rural communities in Ebonyi State face severe shortages of functional schools and basic educational infrastructure. As a result, many children remain out of school due to long travel distances, poverty, and inadequate facilities. In some areas, the few existing schools operate in unsafe or poorly equipped buildings.
Our Efforts
We are helping expand access to education by funding tuition for children who cannot afford to attend Catholic primary schools in areas with limited educational options. This support helps ensure that vulnerable children have the opportunity to learn and build a path out of poverty.
We are also supporting a much-needed building project for St. Felix Minor Seminary in Ejeme Aniogor, which currently serves about 350 students. The seminary’s mission is to form future priests and leaders rooted in truth, holiness, and service, dedicated to transforming society through the Gospel.
